Description The science behind keeping your feet as warm as possible really is quite simple. Isolate and trap lots of air, try to keep any rain on the outside of your shoe and wick away any sweat as quick as possible. We’ve applied these simple facts to our new Defcon1 winter socks. Firstly, and most importantly of all they are thick! But unlike many deep winter socks, our Defcon1’s are very lightweight and therefore less dense. This enables lots of trapped air to be retained in the shoe, providing a highly insulating barrier between your feet and the outside world. The merino wool provides excellent levels of comfort, rapid wicking, anti-bacterial, odor-resistant properties and a level of insulation that is almost second to none (there’s a reason why sheep and evolution came up with merino wool!). In our opinion these are about as warm a pair of socks that you can get, without resorting to battery powered socks or heated insoles. Of course, we cannot guarantee everyone’s feet will stay toasty warm in a pair of these. Like hands, the key factor is circulation, which unfortunately is written in your genes.
